Best of 2016 Collage for Paper Issues

First, I would like to say a huge THANK-YOU to Paper Issues for having me on their team. It was so much fun and I learned so much. I'm so sad that my work life is so busy. I had to make the hard decision to not renew my term. But, I will still do some designing on a smaller scale and hopefully come back some day when work calms down.
So let's look at my fave creations from this year. There's a lot of Simple Stories and Crate Paper in there! Didn't hurt that I also acquired a Silhouette Cameo at the beginning of the year.

Head over to the Paper Issues Friends and Fans Facebook group and post your fave 16 of 2016!

Happy New Year!

Life Is Lovely - Hazelwood Spotlight at PI

Being off work for winter break means time to scrap! I made another layout for the Hazelwood Spotlight at Paper Issues. I posted it in the Facebook Friends and Fans group. First Time on Skates Layout at PI

It's Round 2 of our Remember December issue at Paper Issues. Stop by the blog to see what the other designers have created and then add your own to the Friends and Fans Facebook group. Your layout could include December Daily album pages, winter activities, any December holiday, memorial pages, December holiday traditions, favorite holiday recipe, use snowflakes as an embellishment or much more! I scrapped about a winter activity - skating. My daughter tried it for the first time last winter and it was way more difficult than she expected but she was a trooper!
I used the new Simple Stories Winter Wonderland collection. Isn't it pretty?! You can pick it up in the Paper Issues store for 20% off with the code Carolyn. I also used the ribbon that comes around your order from the store. The title font is also called Winter Wonderland in the Silhouette store and the ice skate can be found there too.

Hey Sweet Girl - Pawsitively Pets at PI

How did your pet join your family? We want to know! Head over to the Paper Issues blog to see how the design team came to know their pets. I don't have a pet so I talked about my daughter's stuffie. We went to the Teddy Bear's Picnic this summer and Pandy got a cast.
I used Crate Paper Cute Girl and a sticker from Bella Blvd and journal words from Simple Stories. The background paper is We R Memory Keepers. I have to admit I struggled to decide on a structure for this layout. The clashing outfit my daughter is wearing didn't help and there were large unnecessary parts to each photo. I like how it turned out. Consider joining the Facebook Fans and Friends group to post your challenge layouts for a chance to win a gift certificate to the store.
Supplies
Crate Paper Cute Girl
Purple paper - We R Memory Keepers Urban Chic
Simple Stories - Hello Fall (journal words)
Pink sticker - Bella Blvd

Friends Layout - Take 5 at PI

It's time to Take 5 at Paper Issues. I can't get enough of the Crate Paper Cute Girl collection and it worked perfectly with this month's list. Pick 5 items from the list, include them in a layout and post it in Paper Issues Friends and Fans on Facebook for a chance to win a gift certificate to the Paper Issues store. Here's what I made:
I love using up little bits of collections and Take 5 is perfect for that. I chose these pics of my daughter and her friend. I moved them around all over the page, took a million pictures and finally decided on this design. Here is the list. I chose scallops, stickers (chipboard and thickers) frame, fussy cut (flowers) and woodgrain.
Supplies
Crate Paper - Cute Girl
Amy Tangerine Thickers
Shimelle - Go Now Go buttons
Heidi Swapp Colorshine Black
Date - Bella Blvd Halloween Magic

I see many, many layouts in the future and probably wishing for more paper. I took advantage of the sale happening at the Silhouette Design store to pick-up some cut files including the one in my layout. It was a wreath that I cut out in red and green and then cut apart and layered.

Here is the mood board:

A Chill In The Air Layout - PI Spotlight

Hello! We are featuring Crate Paper's Snow & Cocoa collection on the Paper Issues blog today. It is such a great collection for winter. Especially if you have kids. Everything is so cute and fun. I scrapped this picture of the girls wearing their matching snuggies. There were so many words and embellies that referenced the cold, it was hard to decide what to use.
This was a great way to use some scraps from previous layouts and use a variety of embellishments.

Supplies
Crate Paper - Snow & Cocoa
Black paint
Gold embroidery thread
Black cardstock
Fine tip Sharpie pen

Stop by the Paper Issues Store for some Snow & Cocoa! You won't be disappointed!

Ice Ice Baby - Bella Blvd Spotlight at PI

Hello there! On the Paper Issues blog today we are featuring all the new Bella Blvd lines. I chose to work with their Illustrated Faith: You Are Loved collection. This picture matched the paper so I made it work with the collection. We were so hot in Florida last year that we were ecstatic to see a wall of ice. I had to document it.
I used my Silhouette Cameo to design the grid and downloaded a free font called Ice Caps. It was a little tricky to use so I ended up just tracing around my letters instead of using the white caps that came on top of the letters. I copied some of the icicles from the letters and pasted and welded them to the bottom of the grid. I used some pieces from the November Swag Bag which are part of this collection. I also cheated and used a couple penguins from the Christmas Cheer line. The speech bubble is from the new Addison collection.

Supplies
Bella Blvd: You Are Loved (I.F.)
Bella Blvd: Christmas Cheer
Bella Blvd: Addison
Black Cardstock
Black Fine Tip Sharpie Pen
Ice Caps Font
Silhouette Cameo

Wanna Build A Snowman? At Paper Issues

I'm up on the Paper Issues blog today and decided to play with the new Crate Paper Snow & Cocoa Collection. I scrapped a picture of my daughter with the snowman she built with Daddy. I was so impressed with the outfit!

I cut the title with my Silhouette Cameo and used the Comic Sans Serif font. I found the lace at a garage sale and the string at Dollarama. I stapled the top corner after folding it over. I used a white pen to write the date. Of course the remainder of the layout I got from the Paper Issues store! The giant snowflake was in the November Swag Bag.

Supplies
Crate Paper - Snow & Cocoa
Black backing paper - DCWV
Black cardstock
Lace
White pen
Thread
Pop dots
Silver glitter glue
Giant snowflake - November Swag Bag

Please stop by the Paper Issues Store if you would like to pick-up some scrappy goodness. Use the code Carolyn for 20% off!

Let It Go Layout - New Issue at PI

It's Round 2 of Going Cold Turkey in Snow-vember. I chose to make a layout with the Crate Paper Snow and Cocoa Collection. It is sooo much fun. Stop by the blog to see what others have made and then join us in the Facebook Fans and Friends group to post your layout.

I used pop dots behind the middle picture and glued an embroidery thread around the paper. I made the flags from the manufacturer's strips and scraps. Finally, I cut the word "snow" off the title and found the "go" in my stash. I contemplated scratching out 'snow' and putting 'go' but was afraid it would get too messy.

Supplies
Crate Paper: Snow & Cocoa
Gold embroidery thread
Chipboard letters
Fine tip Sharpie pen
Pop dots

Halloween Layout - Paper Issues Crop

I was soooo busy with work that I barely got to participate in the Paper Issues crop last weekend. I did however, make this layout to host the "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" challenge. The idea was to use a dark cardstock as a background. I went with the Halloween theme and was happy to get these two older pictures scrapped. The kids are so cute!

I used a cut file from Juliana Michaels and made it repeat. First I cut the outline into the black cardstock. Then I cut the faces into the orange paper. Then I backed it with the negative cuts of black cardstock. I sewed the paper strips on and added a border to my pictures. All the embellishments are from the Crate Paper After Dark collection.

Supplies
Crate Paper After Dark
Basic Grey Eerie
Silhouette Cameo

Beautiful Girl Layout - Pinkfresh Studio Spotlight at PI

Today the spotlight is on Pinkfresh Studio over at Paper Issues. I|| used the Indigo Hills collection. It's so unique, it is fun to play with. Especially if you like mixed media but are scared to try. The backgrounds are watercolored for you - just add embellishments!

This is another awesome picture by my friend Danielle Serceau. She captured this moment with our special friend "Grandma Betty" while at the lake. I used a cut file from the Silhouette store called "Flowers". I watercolored them in black but not too dark. Then I backed some with paper.

Supplies
Pinkfresh Studio: Indigo Hills
Pop dots
Silhouette Cameo
Watercolor black

Five & Fabulous - Mix It Up at PI

It's Mix It Up Monday at Paper Issues. The challenge is to use stamps, and if you like, try to use them in a different way. I chose to watercolor the stamps.

I used white gesso as a base and used a plastic card to spread it. Then a layer of pink paint and kept adding gesso to lighten it. I used my Cameo to cut the title and the font is called Curls.

Supplies
White Cardstock
White Gesso
Pink Paint
Watercolors
November Paper Issues Swag Bag
Stamps: Inkadinkado - Doodle Flowers
Fine Tip Sharpie Pen
Yellow Paper: Simple Stories - Sunshine and Happiness

Love You Layout - Cut It Up at PI

There is an awesome new FREE cut file in the Paper Issues store. Check out the blog for some ideas, download the file and post your layout in the Facebook Friends and Fans group for a chance to win a store credit. I love backing cut files and this one is so easy to work with. The shapes are a nice size and not difficult to fill. I chose a picture from when my daughter painted my nails for the first time. It was so cute. Her Sparks troop set up a soaking station, massage station, lotion and polish.

I was late to the Fancy Free party, so I still have lots of this collection. It's kinda ridiculous how easy these papers work with everything and each other. Here is the cut file.

Supplies
Pink Paislee: Fancy Free
Silhouette Cameo
White Cardstock
Fine Tip Sharpie Pen

Here is the mood board. I was inspired by the flowers and the colors. The colors made me reach for this collection. I tried to follow an old Paper Issues sketch but I ended up flipping everything on its side and went from there. This was one of those layouts where I wasn't sure when to stop embellishing! I had so many to choose from it was hard to not let everything get out of control.

Hello Fall Layout - Product Spotlight at PI

On the Paper Issues blog today is a spotlight on the Hello Fall collection by Simple Stories. I'm a huge Simple Stories fan so of course I joined this challenge. I've been wanting to do a quilt pattern for some time and I finally found one that I thought I could recreate without too much trouble.

This was a lot of fun and not too difficult. I found the pattern on Pinterest and here is a link to the website where the pin was created. I used my Silhouette Cameo to draw one triangle of each size and then copied and pasted them to cut the correct number. I'm definitely going to be looking for some more quilt patterns to try.

Well, it's time for the pet challenge again at Paper Issues. This time around you are challenged to use 3 or more patterned papers and a splash of paint or mist. Sweet Heart Layout - Gather Spotlight at PI

It's a great day to check out the Paper Issues blog. We are featuring layouts using the Maggie Holmes "Gather" Collection. There are so many papers and embellishments in this collection, you really can't go wrong. I chose this baby picture for the colours and the fact it is one of my fav's and it still isn't scrapped.

I really wanted to paint these flowers. I didn't want to do the whole page because then it would look like any other patterned paper. But it was so much fun it was hard not keep painting. I will definitely be trying this again. I used watercolour paints.

Be sure to link-up your Gather layouts in the Facebook Friends and Fans group for a chance to win a gift certificate to the Paper Issues store!

Wonderful Layout - Take 5 at PI

It's Take 5 time at Paper Issues. Stop by the blog to be inspired, then post your layout in the Facebook Friends and Fans group for a chance to win a gift certificate to the store. I used: more than 1 photo, manufacturer's strips, stickers, hand written journaling, title.

Here's the inspiration list:

I was inspired by #15. I cut off all the manufacturer's strips from my Posh collection and then layered them behind my pictures. I love all the cards in Simple Stories collections and I used this 'wonderful' one for my title. I actually made a painted background but at the end of the day it didn't look right and used this fun patterned paper.

Hello everyone! I just love Scraplift Sunday. Today we are lifting a layout by Ann Tamimi. It is so different I just had to try it out. I used a picture of my daughter walking her Go Go Puppy. We found this gem at a garage sale and she's easier to maintain than a real dog!

Adorable Layout - Posh Product Spotlight at PI

Hello everyone! Today on the Paper Issues blog we are featuring the Simple Stories "Posh" Collection. I LOVE this collection. Dark blues are my favorite right now. I chose to feature a birthday picture. There are lots of confetti type pages but I had to use this flower paper.

I love how Simple Stories supplies pages with cards you can cut out and use for layering or journaling or fussy cutting. My biggest problem ends up that I want to use everything! I was hooked on the 'adorbs' card and decided to use that as the title and journaling topic. The ribbon was in my stash.

I used a stencil to trace the large heart on black cardstock and cut it out. Then I used the chevron stencil with texture paste and black paint to make the background. I splattered some black paint on the bottom of the page. I love the embellishments from the Crate Paper "Cute Girl" collection. I'm so glad I grabbed some from the Paper Issues Store.

How To Carve A Pumpkin - Pinspire Me At PI

It's Pinspire Me Day over at Paper Issues. Mary-Ann put together a great mood board to get us in the Halloween spirit. Don't worry if you don't do Halloween. You can make a project inspired by the board's colors or any other way it moves you. Make sure to link up your project in the Friends and Fans Facebook Group for a chance to win a Paper Issues gift card.

I pulled out my pumpkin carving photos from last year to make this layout. Look at the ridiculous talent my brothers have. My daughter and I kept it simple.

I cut a scalloped circle on my Silhouette that came with the machine. Then I chose a font called "Catherine" for most of the title. Here is the mood board:

Never Grow Up Layout - Pawsitively Pets at PI

It's all about the pets today at Paper Issues. Stop by the blog to see all the cute animals. As with last month, we still don't have a pet - haha. So I used (another) picture of my daughter riding a horse. Y'all are going to start thinking I own a stable.

The pink in the Maggie Holmes "Bloom" collection is the same as my picture so that is where I began. You can't go wrong with wood grain either. I have all these awesome embellishments and I was determined to use them. I hope they fit the page without me looking like "I'm trying to use all these embellies!" The other part of the Pawsitively Pet Challenge is to use more than one font in your title. I'm pretty impressed with my use of a horseshoe for the letter "U". It looked like something was missing so I water colored the to match the strip at the top. Isn't it cool how it looks like the mud under the horse. Totally didn't start that way but that's how it turned out! How awesome when something like that happens!

I hope you'll join us in the Friends and Fans Facebook Group to share your projects.

So Happy Layout - Take Me Away Spotlight at PI

Hi Everyone! Have you got the Take Me Away Collection by Pink Paislee? We are featuring this line today on the Paper Issues blog. Head on over to check out all the different ways to use this line. I chose to take out my punches and create a background.

I used this really cool photo my friend Danielle Serceau took of my daughter. I love the black and white with a touch of colour. I used a variety of punches and played around with the different shapes until this pattern emerged. I sewed diagonal lines to anchor the pieces. Then I pasted the gems on the flowers. The title is from the previous Fancy Free line.

Fall Layout - Take 5 Tuesday at PI

Get ready to Take 5! Head over to the Paper Issues Blog to see how we used 5 elements from the list. Here is what I came up with. A picture from when my dad raked his entire backyard into one pile just so these 3 could play in it. They have a wonderful grandpa!

I used orange, cardstock, 3 patterned papers, leaves, and watercolors. The leaves were cut from a free cut file in the Paper Issues Store. I resized them and cut a full sheet of white cardstock. Then I watercolored them. I had to do it a couple times to get the colors dark enough. The veins are just brush strokes from the second application. I didn't use gesso which made the leaves curl and I like how they pop off the page.

What 5 will you choose? Once your layout is complete, post it in the Paper Issues Friends and Fans Facebook Group for a chance to win one of the monthly prizes!
