Favourite Things Layout

My daughter is so lucky to have such wonderful friends and parents who share their pictures with me!

I used sketch #84 from Sketch N Scrap. I also participated in the challenge at Lasting Memories #252: clusters. I like how this sketch gave many places to make clusters.

I used a kit from My Mind's Eye: Now & Then - Mildred. The doilies are from Michael's and the string and ribbon are from the stash. Some of the embellishments are die cuts and others were fussy cut.

Baby Face Layout

Only have a few baby pictures left to scrap!

I used the Scrappy Friends Challenge for my inspiration. The sketch comes from GrandDiva's Creative Corner.

The colour scheme is from Creating with Paper and More. I used mostly the navy blue, light blue and red. A little bit of the grey/beige.

The third part is the tic tac toe portion from Rochelle Spears. I used chipboard stars, twine and glitter letters. It is the first vertical row.

To create the layout I used papers from Pink Paislee: Pen Pals. The letters are Thickers: 216 Journal. The gold stars are Heidi Swapp: Foil Chipboard Shapes.

Beautiful Tree Layout

This is a picture of our tree in bloom. It was so pretty last year and didn't bloom this year. I'm hoping that means I won't be cleaning up a pile of inedible fruit this fall.

I followed the sketch for July at Paper Issues.
I also used three patterned papers as per challenge #250 at Lasting Memories. I love the floral paper - I'm so glad I got to use it. The background and yellow strip are the other patterned papers.

To create the layout I used Bo Bunny: Jazmyne #12J624 for the floral. The other papers were found in the stash. The small letters are Sassafras: violet glitter alpha and the large letters are from Tiany. I also inked a little bit of purple around the white pictures.

True Love Layout

A rare picture of my husband and I. One of us is always behind the camera so it was nice to scrap about us for a change.

I used sketch #127 from Let's Capture Our Memories.

I also chose a title with the word "love" in it to play along with the Pop Song Challenge at Scrap It With A Song. The song this month is Lovesong by Adele. You need to be inspired by the title, lyrics or video. I was inspired by the lyrics of the song which describes true love.

I used paper and embellishments from a Fancy Pants: Me-ology kit. A couple buttons came in the kit but the rest are from the stash.

Awesome Layout

I've been admiring the beautiful mixed media layouts on everyone's blogs and finally gave it a go. I chose a photo of my daughter a few years ago at the splash pad. She barely went near the water all summer but this summer she is all over it.

I began with sketch #143 from Sketchabilities.

Next I chose my colour scheme from Pixels & Paper. I love the blue and white and I used the yellow/orange in the bottom corner to add interest.

I chose my title from Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge: Awesome. You need to use the word awesome somewhere on the layout.

I began with Tim Holtz Mermaid Lagoon paint. This was my first time using it and I found the dabber not very good for spreading paint. It was better for colouring embellishments. I switched to a paintbrush and it worked better. However, I didn't like the brushstrokes so I switched to finger painting. That worked much better around the edges. I added splatters around the outside.

Next I used papers from DCWV: The Snapshot Stack. The blue flowers are Michael's. The title words at the top are Simple Stories: diy stickers. The tag is manila paper and I used Tim Holtz: Fossilized Amber to make it match. The leaves were a lattice on a card that I had kept. The string, paperclip, heart brads and blue frame are from the stash.

Never Let Me Go Layout

Hello all! I've been so uninspired lately that I spent a week reorganizing my scrap space. It was so nice to work in my improved atmosphere and complete a layout. Hopefully I'll have some time to post some pics of my space.

This layout was inspired by three different challenges. My daughter loved to practice riding her tricycle and now her training bike down the sidewalk after dinner. At first she was so slow but eventually picked up the pace. But not without many walks home with Mommy carrying the tricycle because Cosette was tired.

First, I chose a sketch from Stuck?! Sketches.

Next, I chose the two pictures and the colour scheme from Let's Capture Our Memories: Color Spot Challenge. I really wanted to use my kit with the bicycle pictures to match the photos and was so happy to come across this scheme that matches my kit.

Finally, I chose my title from the Scrap It With A Song Challenge. I chose the song "Never Let Me Go" by Florence and The Machine. I liked the title because my daughter never wanted us to let go of the bike. Even though it was back-breaking trying to hold a tricycle, it was a mixture of proud and sad to see her master it. I kinda never want to let go.

I used a My Mind's Eye: My Girl kit for the majority of the layout. The word "never" is written with Studio Calico #105 stickers. The tag and "me" button are from Fancy Pants: Me-ology. I also splattered some white paint. I'm still trying to get the hang of this.

YouTube Time Layout

I'm so excited about this layout. I got to play with a bunch of new stuff and really like how it turned out. This picture was taken after my daughter had crawled between two couches to the little corner where we keep the tablet plugged in. We also keep extra pillows and blankets for the couches there so she stretched out at an awkward angle and got her nursery rhymes going all by herself. It's pretty crazy what babies and toddlers can do with technology.

I began with a single sketch from Stick It Down for July.

Then I chose the picture so I could enter the "Hey, Tech This Out" challenge at Paper Issues. I used a hashtag title and a picture with technology.

I am also playing along at The Paper Girls: Babies challenge #83. This is one tech savvy baby!

I used Recollections: Basics Bold for all the papers. I used my new Teresa Collins Signature Essentials stencil for the triangles. I stamped white ink through the stencil. The title is Simple Stories Snap! Many of the arrows came from Simple Stories diy stickers and Rose Moka: Mouvement Urbain. Many of the word tags were from Glitz: 77, Bella Blvd: Playdate, My Mind's Eye: Collectable, and some random stash ones. The journal tags are Chic Tags.

Christmas Ornament Layout

I took some pictures of my favourite Christmas ornaments knowing that one day I'd like to scrap something other than people posing for the camera. That day has arrived!

I love pulling out my DCWV stacks so I can enter their monthly challenge. It's been so motivating using these challenges to get the Christmas pictures scrapped. Here is the July Scrap-a-holic Challenge:

I have also entered the challenge at The Paper Girls: Babies. The baby theme went nicely with this picture.

I used the DCWV: Jolly Whimsy Stack for the papers in the layout. The title is a die cut from the stash. The red ribbon and gold cord were also in the stash. The green ribbon is Studio Calico. The decorations are Recollections. I also used a black stamp pad to outline the inner papers as I felt they didn't stand out from the rest on their own.

Star Students Layout

My friend Darlene took this picture of our girls at the start of their preschool year. She takes such beautiful pictures, I think I need to practice my photography skills! My daughter was watching me make this page and says "how come we all look like dolls?" I said because they were two years younger - she doesn't remember her friends ever being so little!

I chose a sketch from My Creative Scrapbook.

I also entered the challenge at Picture This! where you have to use the colours red, white and blue plus 1 - 2 pictures plus stars.

I also entered the challenge at Frosted Designs: Friday Challenge. You need to use the colours red, white and blue and something old and new. My old item is the picture which is two years old. My new item is the Fancy Pants folder I used in the middle.

I used Pink Paislee: Pen Pals paper and the Fancy Pants: Me-ology library cards. The letters are from Dollarama. Some of the stars are Simple Stories diy stickers.

You & Me Layout

These two are the best of friends. Of course, the older brother wanted to be in the picture too. I have no idea what they were doing except giggling hysterically making it difficult for us to take a picture.

I saw the challenge at Lasting Memories was to scrap "Together". I pulled this picture because these two are pretty much always together.

I then picked a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy for June Week 1.

Finally, I saw that Scrap Our Stash Challenge #28 had a very challenging challenge. You need to use something from your stash for each letter of the word: PHOTOS. Here is my list:
P - paperclip, pink paint
H - heart brads
O - outline leaves with green ink
T - together tag, torn paper
O - orange flowers, ornament on paperclip, open stock paper from Michael's!
S - sticker title

I used a green paper from DCWV: Home for Christmas Stack. The pink chevron is open stock Recollections. The pink paper was white and I painted it. The letter stickers are MME: Now and Then. The title is Simple Stories. The brads and paperclip are random items from the stash. The remainder is a combination of Bella Blvd: Playdate and Doodlebug: Flower Box.
