So Am I Layout

This picture was taken last summer on the first day of our Florida vacation after a long day of flying and driving. It was in Planet Hollywood but the background didn't come out clearly so I cropped it out. (Along with fussy cutting almost everything!)

I was inspired by the sketch for the May Stack-a-holic Challenge at DCWV. I used the Snapshot Stack and the Blue Citrus Stack.

I decided on a colour scheme based on the Challenge Yourself mood board. And of course I chose a picture of myself with the colour blue to match. I chose the flowery paper to go with the board as well.

There was also a team-up with Scrap It With A Song. I chose the song "So Am I" by Kensington. This is my title and I wrote about how my daughter and I are so alike.

Supplies
DCWV: Blue Citrus Stack and Snapshot Stack
Title - Amy Tangerine: Alyx Thickers

Chip Party Layout

My daughter and her cousins live for chip parties at the grandparent's! At this one they also happened to make pizza first.

I was inspired by the sketch + 3 challenge at Scrap Our Stash. I used My Mind's Eye almost everything for the first list, newsprint for the 2nd list and olive green for the 3rd list.

I'm also participating in the mixed media challenge at My Mind's Eye. I used texture paste mixed with pink acrylic paint and a stencil to make the flowers peaking out from behind the cluster. I then splattered some white gesso.

Supplies
My Mind's Eye: Now & Then Dorothy Collection
Echo Park floral stencil
Ranger Texture Paste
Pink Acrylic Paint
White Gesso
Newsprint: Bo Bunny Ephemera

Star Wars Layout - DT Sketches In Thyme

Hope you will all try out this awesome sketch at Sketches In Thyme this week. There are so many neat elements. I wanted to tear some paper and do some stitching but my focus became my title and journaling and the page just got too busy to add those details.

Here is the sketch:

I used my Silhouette to trace around the Star Wars logo in black and yellow and then pieced it together. Then I used this tutorial on how to make the text look like the opening crawl - minus the animation. I printed it from Powerpoint. I also cut the banner with my Silhouette using a file that came with the machine.

Supplies
Amy Tangerine: Better Together
Stars - Heidi Swapp stencil, Bella Blvd stickers, Simple Stories diy stickers
Ampersand sticker - Fancy Pants: Attwell
Black and Yellow Cardstock
Yellow embroidery thread
Creative Memories star punch

Girls Wanna Have Fun Layout

This picture is of the girls trying out hair chalk. I won this at a social so the girls saw it on the floor and had to try it. They were covered in colour and tattoos and glitter but had a blast on a boring summer afternoon.

I used the sketch from the Midweek Mojo Orchid #3. Do you think I have an issue with white space? Haha!

I also incorporated buttons for the challenge at Rochelle Spears.

I'm also joining the Rainbow Challenge at Scrapbook.com for National Scrapbook Day.

Supplies
My Mind's Eye: My Girl Collection
Buttons
Grey Cardstock - Craft Smith
Silhouette Cameo to cut scallop border

A Moment In Time Layout

Mixed media is not my forte so every once in awhile I like to practice. I thought the sketch at Bo Bunny this month was pretty cool with its grid pattern. I have the Beautiful Dreamer kit with lots of clocks so I decided to join the challenge at More Than Words which is to use the word Moment and include a clock. I used pictures of my daughter at Christmas because I took lots and her dress matches the kit. Unfortunately, I didn't have another picture for the center so the tongue sticking out made the cut. However, it's a more realistic representation of that moment in time than the other pictures!

Here is the sketch:

Here is the inspiration picture:
I cut the grid out in my Silhouette on a white paper and the title on black. I dragged the paper through some distress ink to add the purple colour. I stamped some green and black splatters. Then I used a blending tool with black ink to mute the white. I added the two frames at the end for some more contrast and contemplated adding some stitching but I decided not to.

Supplies
Bo Bunny: Beautiful Dreamer
Finnabar splatter stamp
Distress Ink - Tim Holtz: Victorian Velvet
Black thread
Gold wire
Pop dots
Date stamp
Black ink
Green ink

Wish Layout

I totally splurged last summer on our trip to Disney and bought the lunch with the princesses. There was a 50/50 chance that my daughter would love it or have a complete meltdown. We went during the hottest time of summer, it was over a week into our trip and my daughter is a very picky eater. I didn't tell her about it until we arrived at the castle. It was pretty awesome! She was so excited to meet all the princesses and I was excited to be in an air conditioned castle! The meal was actually really good and my daughter ate some of it - so bonus there! I highly recommend going to all the trouble of booking two months in advance and paying the crazy prices if you have a four-year-old. It really made our trip special.

I used the layout from the Midweek Mojo Orchid #2 as inspiration. No sketch was provided so I did more of a scraplift this time. Here is the original:

I had typed up all my journaling and then of course when I went to print my printer wouldn't accept any paper. So I tried to handwrite it myself.

I'm also entering the Anything Goes challenge at Clique Kits.

Dream Layout

I can't believe how many layouts I've done with my limited Attwell supplies. I love it so much I've saved every last sliver. This is a picture from our Florida vacation last summer. My daughter wanted this dolphin stuffy on the first day. We were worried if we bought it she would keep asking for stuff but she didn't give up and we caved. I'm so glad we did because it went with her everywhere during the trip and she never asked for another thing!

I began with the current single page sketch form Stick It Down.

Just Nick offered this Dreamcatcher cut file for free for National Scrapbook Day. I thought it would be a good starting point with the circle. Then I chose the picture and the papers to match. I painted the frame with watercolors but it was really bright and looked a little off so I covered it with black watercolor and I love how it turned out. It matches much better.

I also included many of the requirements for the Take 5 challenge at Paper Issues in their Facebook group. I used black, circle, bow, title, journaling, date.

I'm also participating in the Anything Goes challenge at Clique Kits.

Let's Go Layout

Here is my layout inspired by the sketch at My Creative Sketches.

I was really excited to open my Fancy Pants Office Suite collection and to use a pie chart cut file from 17 Turtles. I also used the tissue paper from my Paper Issues order! Finally, there is some black paint splatter and I did some white stitching with my sewing machine around the outside panels and it was straight - hooray!

I'm also participating in the Mix It Up Monday challenge at Paper Issues where you put some stitching on your layout and the Anything Goes challenge at Clique Kits.

Duck, Duck, Goose Layout

We had a huge family gathering a few summers ago and I led the kids in some games. Duck, duck goose is a favorite especially with ones too young to get it and they end up running all over the place.

I was inspired by the sketch from the Midweek Mojo Orchid #1.

I'm also playing along in the Paper Issues Facebook Group for their Tic Tac Toe challenge. I used a number in my date stamp, a few patterned papers and lots of stickers.

I'm also entering the embellishment variety challenge at Scrapbook.com.

Supplies
Fancy Pants: Attwell Collection
Letters - Doodlebug: Jack & Jill

Love 2 Layout

Hi there. I saw the cool Page Maps sketch for the BoBunny April Challenge and managed to find time to join in.

Here is the sketch.

Can you tell I have a love/hate relationship with my sewing machine? I love how stitching looks but hate that I can't sew straight and hate changing thread and hate rethreading and hate when my thread tension is off. I could go on but I think you have the idea! I keep telling myself to practice and it will get better. The Mix It Up Monday Challenge at Paper Issues offered the motivation to use stitching on a layout.

I used some green watercolors on the background using the plastic packaging technique. I also stenciled the purple love words with a blending pen (never used one before so my paper kept getting too wet, so again, I'll need to practice). I stamped the sentiment and love words and used a splatter stamp on the background. I flicked a bit of black paint but restrained myself - I always go too crazy with it!

Supplies
BoBunny: Beautiful Dreamer
Stamps - Close To My Heart: Speckled Background & Moments
Ink - Tim Holtz: Victorian Velvet Distress Ink, Hampton Art Black
Stencil - Teresa Collins Signature Essentials
Journaling - Studio Series Metallic Marker
