Tree of Life Layout

Just working through my stash before the craziness of September hits. I fussy cut this Crate Paper - Wild Heart sheet with the leaves. I've posted it at Paper Issues in the Let's Get Fussy challenge in their Facebook group. All the words and a few leaves are from other Crate Paper collections like Bloom and Gather.

Girl Love Layout

Two layouts, one cut file. Sounds good to me. I hate wasting paper so I made another layout with the cut out of my preview post. Paper Issues has a girl themed challenge so I based this layout on a picture of my daughter sleeping on me.

Love Layout

Just procrastinating away making layouts. I joined the Monochromatic challenge at Paper Issues. I chose pink as my colour and black and white were allowed. I used this picture of the kids. We have a picture of the two older ones lying on the same blanket and they couldn't resist photo bombing the baby's picture.

Twinsies Layout

I've been rotating through different colletions lately so I thought I should work with my Maggie Holmes supplies. I went through my cut files until this one from Paper Issues caught my eye. I thought the flowers were similar to the paper. I'm sure glad I like the final product because it sure took a long time!
I debated putting some white gesso behind the flowers but I chickened out. I used thread instead.

Crate Paper - Gather
Paper Issues cut file
Title: Fancy Pants - Life is Beautiful
Stash buttons
Black thread
Chipboard and yellow paper: Crate Paper - Bloom

I Like Your Face Layout

I'm trying to go through my stash so with Valentine's Day coming up I pulled out the Crate Paper Heart Day collection. I paired it with a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy and I'm liking the final result. I think the patterns in the sketch made me think of the Heart Day collection. I really wanted to keep the white space in the sketch as it is something I'm not good at but I couldn't resist adding more ric rac. And how cute is my nephew!!
Here is the sketch:
Supplies
Crate Paper - Heart Day
Chipboard: Crate Paper - Hello Love
White cardstock
Michael's: Red ric rak
Heidi Swapp: Cherry Color Shine

Noel Layout for S.I.T.

I'm back at Sketches In Thyme with a Christmas layout this month. My daughter loved her stocking presents so it was fun to capture them on this layout.
Here is the sketch:
No automatic alt text available.
I opened random snowflake cut files and drew circles the same sizes as the sketch. I moved them around until I found snowflakes and circles that looked good together. I welded them so the machine would cut snowflake frames. I used textured cardstock to make it more interesting. The smaller snowflakes are from punches. I used ribbon to separate my background papers and some glitter glue to make the snowflakes sparkle. The snowflakes ended up too big to all be on one side of the layout so I spread them across.
Supplies
Crate Paper: Falala
Silhouette Cameo cut files (one from the Hip Kit Club)
Glitter glue
Craft Smith textured cardstock
Core'dinations black cardstock
White pen

Panda Party Layout

This sketch and mood board from Let's Get Sketchy made me think of the Crate Paper Cool Kid collection. I only was able to buy some of the papers so I chose a picture of my nephew at his panda party knowing I have some panda stickers from Paper House Productions. I added some letters, sequins, gems and twine from the stash and like how it turned out.
Here is the challenge:
I used lots of the colours from mood board such as black, orange and blue. The twist was to scrap a boy subject.

Sweet Hearts Layout

I made this layout just for fun. No challenges or design team work. I decided I needed a moment to just step back and do something without any restrictions and I love how it turned out. You really can't go wrong with the Cute Girl collection from Crate Paper.
I took random scraps from my 6x6 paper pad and built the layers at the top and bottom of the page. I tacked them down with some tape and then ran my sewing machine across them and left the thread hanging at both ends. I decided to do the same with all the other tags on the page. I finished it off with some thickers and enamel dots on the ice cream cones. It took me a long time to figure out what title to use and then where to put it.
Supplies
Crate Paper - Cute Girl
My Mind's Eye - Enamel dots
Thickers - Amy Tangerine

Look At Me Layout

I have so many unused collections, it's time to use them. There just isn't enough time to use them all so I haven't bought any of the new lines this year in the hopes of using my stash. It's been fun going through everything and working with entire kits, not scraps. So I've been wanting to use the Crate Paper Poolside collection and now that I have a bunch of swimming pictures, it's the perfect time.
I'm really excited about how it turned out! It was one of those layouts where I had no plan and pieced it together. I chose this awesome cut file by Stacey at Paper Issues as my starting point. Then I chose the font, made some layers behind my pictures and a cluster at the bottom. I had actually planned to line the pictures vertically down the left and the title down the right but once I had all the pieces made and moved them around I decided on this pattern. I'm playing along at Paper Issues with Cut It Up Tuesday. If you haven't downloaded the free cut files at Paper Issues you need to do it now! There are so many.
Supplies
Crate Paper: Pool Side
Cut file: Paper Issues

Love My Lake Layout

I'm playing along at My Creative Sketches this month by following their current sketch. I used a picture of my daughter at the lake which we take every year. I also used the Bloom collection by Crate Paper which I have so much of I don't think I'll ever run out, or ever get tired of using!
Here is the sketch:

I ended up moving the strip along the bottom to the middle of the page but otherwise followed the sketch.
Supplies
Crate Paper - Bloom
Ribbon - Michael's
Black fine tip Sharpie pen

Soccer and Dance Layouts

I've got two layouts today. The Paper Issues crop has so many challenges, I've been trying to do one layout a night but I've had to wait for decent lighting before posting. Even then my lighting isn't great but I want to get these entered.
The first one is my highland dance layout for the Pocket Full of Posies Challenge. My daughter is loving it. This pic is from her first day and the tests are from part way through the year. I stitched a pocket into the paper so I could tuck 2 more test papers in behind the top one. I fussy cut the butterflies and found some very old alpha stickers.
Supplies
Crate Paper - Bloom
Crate Paper - Gather
Sassafras alphas - Lollipop

My second layout is for the Be A Sport Challenge. I really wanted to get our professional photos scrapped so this was a good excuse. I pulled out my sport folder and found this paper that probably came in a box of garage sale items. The colours matched so I figured why not? I used my Silhouette to cut the title. Sorry for the blurred faces and names.
Supplies
Close To My Heart
Bo Bunny - Dark Denim Dot Paper
Silhouette Cameo
Silhouette store Jersey font
Fine tip black Sharpie pen

Kiss Kiss Layout

Another layout for the Paper Issues Crop. This one is for the Spring Cleaning Challenge - use up your old stash. I have sooo much of the Bloom collection and never really had time to use it that I've been kind of addicted to it lately. The paper kind of warped a bit when I glued the lace on so this is the best shot I could get.
Supplies
Crate Paper - Bloom
Leftover lace from my childhood bedroom curtains!

Squishy Hug Layout

There is a huge crop happening over at Paper Issues today in their Facebook group. I made this layout as part of their Cut The Crop Challenge. The goal is to use one of the free Paper Issues cut files. I used their heart background file.
I'm also going to link up this layout to the Anything Goes challenge at Clique Kits where they encourage you to use a cut file.
Supplies
Crate Paper - Bloom
Black cardstock
White Cardstock
Pink Paislee - Moonstruck Thickers

Hooray Layout

This is one of those layouts where I'm not too sure if I love it or hate it. So I must fall somewhere in the middle. I love the concept but I feel my execution wasn't all there. But that's ok because I want to take more risks. However, if anyone knows how to make brushstrokes that aren't so spikey (like the ones on the background paper) feel free to comment. I couldn't figure it out.
I used this sketch from Stuck?! Sketches.
I began by cropping my photos and realized they were pretty big once I cut the circles. But I didn't want to lose anything in the photos so giant circles it was! They didn't pop off the background so I added the black. I decided to paint them to go with the painting theme but they aren't as streaky as I would like. The pictures are so fun, I'm just glad I finally got to put them on paper.
I made sure to include pieces for the Take 5 Challenge at Paper Issues. I used twine, stickers, 2 or more photos, chipboard and circles.
I'm also playing along at Clique Kits in the Anything Goes challenge. I used my Cameo to cut out the big pieces of this layout
Supplies
Crate Paper - Gather
Crate Paper - Bloom
Amy Tan - You & Me Thickers
White cardstock
Tim Holtz distress tool
Black paint
Clear gesso

You're Rad Layout - S.I.T.

After a bit of a break, I am back at Sketches In Thyme. There are four sketches a month to work with so if you like sketches, it is the place to check out! I chose this picture of my daughter and I on our summer vacation in a photo booth at the hotel. It was such a wonderful trip and we both actually look half decent in this picture.
Here is the sketch #268 by Bev Code. The prize this month is from Creative Embellishments.
I wanted to open my Crate Paper Heart Day collection so it only made sense to make the big circle a heart. I used my Silhouette to cut three different hearts and layered them. Then I tore the border of the black paper. I thought the pink paper looked too plain so I punched a border. Then I spent a ridiculous amount of time deciding if my flags were going to be straight or angled and their colours.
Supplies
Crate Paper - Heart Day
Fiskars Punch
Silhouette Cameo
Black Core'dinations Cardstock
