Happy Day Layout - DT Picture This!

This week at Picture This! the challenge is to use scraps + die cuts + buttons. Right away I went to my most used kits which complement each other well - Doodlebug: Flower Box and Bella Blvd: Playdate. They are basically just scraps now! I punched all the monotone papers with a Martha Stewart heart punch to make the rainbow. The black page is from Craft Smith. The die cut is the title. It is from MME: The Sweetest Thing collection. Obviously, I made a good dent in the button stash!

I am also submitting this layout to the challenge at Scrap Around the World. The mood board has so many beautiful colours I decided to use them all. I also really liked those hearts in the bottom picture.

Tranquil Layout

I love this picture so much. It is the lake where my husband vacationed as a kid which is close to where we vacation now. The lake is never this calm and I can never take decent pictures with my phone. Everything just somehow worked out. I included some lyrics to one of my favourite songs.

I was inspired by the sketch at Scrap Our Stash #31. I love how simple it is - perfect for a tranquil page. The pink brads fit the requirement to include metal in the layout.

I also jumped into the challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge. This month you have to create a layout in an hour. This is definitely a challenge for me but it's so nice sometimes to just get a layout done quickly.

Supplies
Yellow paper - DCWV: Blue Citrus Stack
Blue paper - Stampin' Up
Note paper - DCWV: Marquee Stack
Brads, flowers, letters, ribbon, stickers - my stash

Love To Sing Layout

I went to take out the recycling one day and my daughter followed me with her microphone. She was mid-song and just kept on going. She set-up in the middle of the driveway and put on a show for the whole neighbourhood. Only problem was that it was very early in the morning and I don't think anyone was appreciating it!

I was inspired by the sketch at Stuck?! Sketches this month. I love those diagonal lines.

Supplies
Paper - Pink Paislee: Hello Sunshine
Rainbow Sticker - Doodlebug: Flower Box
Pink Phrase Sticker - MME: The Sweetest Thing
Pink Letters - Bella Blvd: Sophisticates Piggy Punch High 5 Alphas

Lake Trick or Treat Layout

A highlight of the last few summers has been the costume parade at the lake. My daughter has so much fun with the other kids coming up with a costume and then collecting candy.

I'm playing along in the Scrap-a-holic Challenge at DCWV. The sketch is as follows:

I was very grateful to receive a Spooky Delights Stack and wanted to play with it. I can't believe how similar some of my ideas were to the design team's in regards to paper choices so I guess that means I'm on the right track. The extra die cuts are from Imaginesense and the ribbon is from Michael's.

I am also playing along at the Clique Kits challenge which is Anything Goes this month.

Finally, I'm joining in the challenge at The Paper Girls which has a Halloween theme.

Halloween Layout

These little cuties just had to be scrapped. I love that my daughter wanted to be a tiger.

I am playing along at The Paper Girls this month with the theme of Halloween.

I'm also playing along at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Monster Mash. I included some photo bombing monsters.

Finally, I'm joining the Fan-atics challenge at Paper Issues. One interpretation of the challenge could be to link-up Halloween projects.

Supplies
Everything is from the Doodlebug Monster Mania kit except the orange paper which is DCWV Spooky Delight and the title from my stash.

Tea For Two Layout

I'm entering the Scraptober Fest Challenge with this layout. It is a combo of four challenges. I started with the colour challenge, selected papers to go with the sketch, found a photo with me in it and then struggled to get the washi tape in there. I only have a few washi tapes so it was a challenge to make something work. I was pretty happy to get to dig into our vacation pictures too. To bad that teapot looks like it is balancing on my daughter's head!

Here is a summary of the challenges:

Here is the sketch:

I used all the colours in the colour combo:
Here is the link to the 2 different washi tapes. I used brown tape on the sides and polka dot tape across the tag on the top.

Supplies
MME: Now & Then - Mildred and Dorothy
DCWV: Blue Citrus Stack
Fancy Pants: Hot Pink Letters
Fancy Pants: Me-ology Tea Cup Die Cut
Tim Holtz Distress Tool
Dollarama Washi Tape
Doodlebug: Flower Box Washi Tape

Loft Bed Layout

Last fall I built my daughter her loft bed. She loved that I painted it her favourite colours and that it had a fort underneath (yeah Ikea!). I also found an Ikea hack where the storage bins become stairs. I slept better at night knowing she didn't have to take the ladder down in the dark.

I used sketch #115 at My Scraps and More for inspiration. I wanted to try some new stuff/techniques so this was the perfect sketch. I used texture paste with a stencil and a distress tool for the first time.

Supplies
Background Paper - Recollections
Arrow Papers - DCWV: Honey Chic Stack
Purple Paper - Fancy Pants: Dancing Girl
Pink Paper - Making Memories: Pink with White Glitter Dots

Stencil - DCWV 12 x 12
Texture Paste - Ranger

Love Makes The World Go Round Layout - DT Picture This!

This week Picture This! is hosting a fun challenge. It is to use 2 photos + polka dots + family. Trying to find two pictures of my family that kind of go together was near impossible. So I chose a family picture (with additional astronaut) from our trip to the Kennedy Space Centre this summer and one of me in front of the globe at the entrance.

This was also one of those layouts where the paper and embellishments you start with are not the same as the ones you end with. I scoured the stash to find space related items and found the title that matched the space and family theme. Then I found the map paper and my star stamp and I was set.

Supplies:
Black polka dots - Pebbles: basics
Map paper and arrows - DCWV: The Great Vacation Stack
Yellow paper frames - DCWV: The Homeroom Stack
Chipboard flourish and tag - Scrap Works: Magpie Collection
Title - DCWV: Vellum Quote Stack
Ric Rak - Echo Park: For The Record 2
Yellow cardstock
Black ink
Star stamp

I hope you've been inspired to play along! Thanks for stopping by!

I joined the Scrappy Friends challenges for this layout.

The sketch can be found at Grand Diva's Creative Corner.

The Tic Tac Toe challenge can be found at Rochelle Spears. I went down the middle with leaves, lots of brown and a date stamp in the middle on the right.

I used the shades of brown from the mood board at Creating with Paper and More. I think my yellow leaves also look like the feathers:)

I am also joining the Anything Goes challenge at Clique Kits.

Practice Makes Perfect Layout

Nothing like getting layouts done at the last minute! I saw this sketch and thought of this magazine cover that was given to us by my daughter's soccer team photographer. It is so large I wasn't sure how I was going to scrap it but this worked really well. It was fun to do a two-pager for a change of pace.

The sketch is from Let's Scrap Sketches.

Supplies
Black & white paper - DCWV: Honey Chic Stack
Red swirl paper - from the stash
All other papers - American Crafts: Hello, Sunshine
Title - DCWV: Quick Quotes Vellum

I was inspired by the sketch at Sketchabilities.

White, Pink & Teal Wedding Layout - GD Scrap It With A Song

I'm happy to be guest designer for Scrap It With A Song this month. The song choice this month is "Relax, Take It Easy" or "White Wedding". I had a few pictures left from my brother's wedding so I chose White Wedding.

I love the colour scheme my sister-in-law chose for the wedding so I used it on the layout and then thought it was fun to include it in the title. The ceremony was in front of a giant window which was beautiful but terrible for my pictures. I chose to do a busier layout so the poor picture quality was less obvious.

Products used:
Background papers: Bo Bunny - a gift of love - Alissa Spunky & Alissa Love You
White paper: The Paper Company - Iced White
Heart Stickers: My Mind's Eye - Now & Then
Words: Authentique - Diction
Letters: Simple Stories - SNAP and Making Memories
Green string: Gimp
White string: embroidery floss
Flowers: Recollections and Michaels
Lace, pearls and black flowers : from the stash
Fiskars heart stencil
Black ink

Note to Self Layout

Here is a picture of me riding one of my daughter's toys at the lake. Not sure who caught me doing this but it was the perfect size picture for this layout!

I'm loving this layout. Every time I walk past it I can see it sparkling. I was inspired by the sketch at Challenge Yourself #22.

I have also joined the challenge at Scrap Our Stash. The idea is to use an item for each letter in the word INKS. Here is my list:
I - ink (around tags)
N - notebook paper
K - knots (embroidery thread bows)
S - stars, sticker letters

There is also an Anything Goes challenge this week at Simon Says Stamp. I've linked this up to play along.

Supplies
Paper - Pink Paislee: Hello Sunshine
Black letters - Echo Park: For the Record 2
Pink letters - Bella Blvd: Playdate kit

Smile Layout - Picture This! DT

I'm so excited to be a member of the design team at Picture This! This month the challenge is to use 3 pictures, chipboard and a stamp. I had a bunch of close-ups of my daughter at her 4th birthday party which were perfect for the layout I had in mind.

I used supplies from My Mind's Eye: My Girl. The large title, camera and photo corners are chipboard and I stamped the date on the bottom. I sketched out the boxes, cut and pasted the papers/photos and did a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine with grey thread. Then I added embellishments and brown embroidery thread.

I hope you will join us in the challenge this month!
