Buddy the Elf Layout

I've had this sketch on my board all month but due to other commitments, I didn't have time until now to get it done. I love this sketch and am so happy I got to work with it before the challenge closed.

This is our kindness elf named Buddy. I found the idea for a kindness elf here. I sewed him according to a pattern I found here. Everyday before Christmas he would present my daughter with an idea to be kind. We had so much fun with Buddy. Hopefully, I will be able to post the calendar with all our kindness ideas and scenes.

Trick or Treat Layout

My daughter loves tigers and was very happy to dress as one for Halloween. She also wanted to wear all the glow sticks she could. I love the cute pumpkin she carved in the background.

 

I followed a sketch from My Creative Sketches. I moved some elements around so I could fit two pictures.

Tiny Tots Santa Layout

My daughter's Tiny Tots program threw a wonderful Christmas party last year. She was a little scared of Santa but she smiled for a picture.

 

I used the September Stack-a-holic Challenge at DCWV as inspiration. They used this great PageMaps sketch.

 

I sprayed the background with white mist then gold mist. Then I splattered some red paint. I stamped some red snowflakes. I painted the circle and covered the snowflakes in glitter glue. I cut off the portion that was hiding under the picture and added it to the top of the page.  I chopped up the pizza mesh pretty randomly and painted it gold. I got the idea to use pizza mesh from Pixels and Paper.

Meow Layout

Today I scrapped a picture of my daughter last summer hanging out at the wading pool. We lucked out that they were also painting faces. The flower on the bottom is actually the same colour as the one at the top but I couldn't get the lighting to make it show-up correctly.

I joined the Scrappy Friends challenge this month. Here is the sketch from Grand Diva's Scrappy Place.

 

The colour scheme is from Creating with Paper & More. I used the green, yellow and orange colours.





 

I also played Tic Tac Toe at Rochelle Spears's blog. I went across the top. I used pennents, washi tape and notebook paper.

Don't Forget About Me Layout - GD Lasting Memories

Here are some more pictures from my friend Darlene. Our daughter's preschool teacher retired last summer. She did such a wonderful job however my daughter was cranky during the pictures so Darlene managed to catch one of her smiling. And don't worry - in the bottom picture my daughter is laughing, not in pain!

I've been so happy to be guest designer this month at Lasting Memories. It was such a fun month of techniques and titles. This last week is about using punches and the title of a song/book/movie. I used 2 butterfly punches and a square punch to make the points of the flags. I chose the title of a Simple Minds song.

I began with sketch #164 by Rochelle Spears from Sketches in Thyme. Rochelle does such beautiful pages I couldn't resist using twine like she does.

All On My Own Layout

In response to the DT call from Hip Kit Club, I put together this layout. My daughter was very excited to be able to swim without anyone holding her. She only needed a life jacket and two pool noodles (or poodle noodles as she calls them).

I used a variety of products. DCWV: Snapshot Stack for the lined paper and word bubbles. Some beachy tags and embellishments that were gifted to me from someone cleaning their stash. The letters are thickers (black) and Dollarama (red). I used a fine tip Sharpie pen for the writing.

Playtime Layout - GD Pixels and Paper

I'm so happy with this layout and that I was given an opportunity to guest design for Pixels and Paper.

The challenge this month is to use the following photo as inspiration.

I saw that my daughter's jacket matched the colours perfectly and went from there. I used yellow, purple and orange paint in misters to spray the paper. Then I splattered some more of the paint. I used a DCWV stencil with Studio g ink. All the flowers are from the stash (ie. garage sales!). The gems came from various Dollarama packages except the large orange ones are Leeza Gibbons. The arrow is My Mind's Eye: Niche. The title and chipboard leaves are from Creative Embellishments. Finally, the yellow leaves are from a greeting card and painted fossilized amber by Tim Holtz.

Teddy Bears' Picnic Layout - GD Lasting Memories

This was one of those perfect summer days. I biked to the park with my daughter in the bike trailer and enjoyed a beautiful day at the Teddy Bear's Picnic. My daughter liked the stage shows the best - highland dancing and bagpipes, ballet, drums, etc. She was drumming my head and doing ballet moves all over the place. The MASH tent line was too long so we checked out some smaller tents and the police car (middle picture of the layout).

I chose three pictures from our day to make a layout for Lasting Memories as their guest designer. This week's theme is ink splatter and mixed alphas. I splattered the paint but then also painted the center of the doilies and the chipboard circle for contrast.

This month's challenge is paired with Scrap Our Stash challenge #30.

Vacuuming Layout

This is a layout that I put together to feature my mambi chipboard. The kids were not so interested in decorating the tree but very excited to vacuum. We only had 2 vacuums and 3 kids but more than enough needles.

I used mambi chipboard. Thickers for the red letters. Making Memories for the black letters. The green and red paper are from DCWV: Songbird. The striped paper is DCWV: Jolly Whimsy.

That Golden Smile Layout - GD Stick It Down

I took my daughter for a tour of the Mint and they have an RCMP officer guarding this gold brick. He invites you over to try to pick it up. It is insanely heavy and I barely got it to move. I don't think anyone will be running away with it anytime soon (and the fact it is attached on a cord through the podium).

 

I was so excited to be guest designer this month for Stick It Down. Their sketch this month is the following:

I used papers from the DCWV: Honey Chic stack. The background is Craft Smith Neutrals. The gold dots are Heidi Swapp. The flowers are Michael's and Dollarama. The puffy letters I found in my daughter's craft box. The gold cord was leftover from a cross-stitch project. I also used DCWV stencils for the lettering.

Remote Control Bus Layout - GD Lasting Memories

This is my second contribution as guest designer this month for Lasting Memories. The challenge is to use distressing and a title that tells the story. I chose to use some distress ink on the background paper and attack the remaining papers with a nail file (hence why I've never tried this technique before)!

 

I used paper from DCWV: Home for Christmas stack. The rest is from the stash. The penguins are Paper Bliss. The blue letters are from Glitz: 77 and the others are from the stash. I used Tim Holtz Gathered Twigs ink and some Mister Huey's opaque white misting spray.
