Photo Radar Layout

The kids had a blast last summer at my nephew's 2nd birthday party. This car was a hit. My daughter drove it like a pro, shoulder checking and everything. My in-laws got these great pictures and I just love the look on my nephew's face.

I used the Sketch #148 for May Week #2 at Sketches in Thyme by Rochelle Spears.

 

I used DCWV: The Snapshot Stack for the majority of the layout. The title is Jillibean Soup. The stenciled arrows are Ronda Palazzari Designs.

Birthday Socks Layout

This was a fun layout to make. I just received a new kit and I had this picture of the crazy coloured socks my four-year-old gave me for my birthday. She said I always have holes in my socks so I needed new ones! New kit + new socks = perfect combination for a layout.

I started with the sketch from Scrap Much? for their May challenge.

 



I used the My Mind's Eye: My Girl kit. I found a piece of red felt for the heart in the craft box. I also used some yellow/white string for the stitching and stars. I got the star idea from ARTastic. The smaller the star, the better it worked. Although, I couldn't enter their challenge because I had too many I wanted to do!

 

So I entered the stitching challenge at Scrap It Girl. I chose this sketch so I could try out some stitching. I'm still not brave enough to try a sewing machine on my papers. I hand stitched the circle and heart and then drew stitching around the letters.

 

I also entered the string art challenge at Frosted Designs since I bought the string from their site.

Three Legged Race Layout

I used my most well-used stack for this project: DCWV Kidlet. The letter stickers are Doodlebug - Jack and Jill.

I chose these papers because the colours went well with the colour challenge at Creating with Paper and More. I used at least three of the colours listed.

I used the sketch from Grand Diva's Creative Corner.

 

 

I also followed the Tic Tac Toe Challenge at Rochelle Spears Blog. I used the middle row: butterflies, flowers and something pink.

Anna Layout

I decided to do a Christmas layout since it was basically Christmas on the May long weekend. Here is what our deck in Winnipeg looked like on Monday morning. Luckily it melted and it is now +24'C.

My daughter wanted an Anna doll from "Frozen" for Christmas so here she is opening up her gift from Santa (in her Frozen pajamas).

I used a sketch from DCWV's May Stackaholic Challenge.

I used papers from the DCWV Home for Christmas Stack and the DCWV Jolly Whimsy Stack. I also used a Martha Stewart snowflake punch.

1950's Housewife Layout

Today I made a layout of my sister-in-law's wedding shower. Her maid-of-honour chose a 1950's housewife theme. Many people came dressed up and the games were all about being the perfect housewife. It was beautiful and so much fun.

I chose the May sketch at Stick it Down.

 

I used Recollections: The Sweetest Thing paper. The tag is MME: The Sweetest Thing. The title is Studio Calico Stickers #105. The memories sticker is Pebbles: Masking Tape Stickers.

Butterfly Layout

This week I began working on a layout with a sketch all ready to go, paper selected, picture set and then I saw the butterfly die cuts. I loved how they looked with the picture and realized it wouldn't work with the sketch so it got tossed and I started from scratch.

The background paper is Recollections: The Sweetest Thing. The title is Simple Stories: diy. The die cuts are Heidi Grace: Cartwheel. The small butterfly stickers are K & Company: Life's Little Occasions. The black butterflies are stamped (I stole the stamp from my daughter's Melissa and Doug play set) and it's coloured in with a black pencil crayon and orange marker. The orange paint is Creamcoat: Pumpkin. This was my first time using paint on a layout. My daughter thought it looked pretty fun experimenting with spray bottles and splatter. Finally, the photo was taken by my friend Danielle Serceau whom we are so lucky to have had at the lake that day. It was "Halloween at the Lake" and my daughter was dressed as a butterfly, princess, figure skating cat. She saw everyone else's costumes and wanted a piece of them all.

Giant Bear Layout

I saw the challenge at Red Carpet Studio this week and immediately knew which picture I wanted to use. The challenge is to be inspired by the Iron Giant movie poster. Right away I thought of a picture of my daughter with a giant teddy bear she was given last month. Her friend is moving and asked us to take care of it. My daughter had no problem spending the afternoon feeding, cuddling and dragging the bear everywhere.

I chose to do the obvious with the word "Giant" and the giant teddy bear. But I also started by choosing papers that matched the colours in the poster. I ended up scaling back on the dark colours as I didn't want my layout getting too depressing.

Then I chose a sketch from Stuck?! Sketches. I like the circle in the background as it looks like the moon in the movie poster.

 

I kept pretty close to the sketch. I used the DCWV Kidlet Stack for the background, bears, title and some trim. I used My Mind's Eye Collectable & Sweetest Thing cards. The yellow is Close To My Heart paper as well as the blue (Lucky). The black trim is We Are Memory Keepers Retro Glam Stickers. And of course I got to use my Martha Stewart circle cutter. Can you tell I was digging through the stash for this one?
